Late May and into June is when we fish for Shad. We also combine Shad fishing with some oversized Sturgeon trips as we use the shad for fresh bait. Shad trips can just be a great day of family fun. If you want non stop fish fighting action, or want you children to catch a lot of fish, this fishery is for you. These fish range from 3 to 5 pounds, and are a real scrappy, hard fighting fish.
Most of my clients only book 4 hour Shad fishing trips because their arms can't take any more than that. That's why we also offer Shad as a combination with Sturgeon for full day trips. It's the best of both worlds.
100+ 3 to 5 pound Shad in 4 hours are very common.
